General FAQ

• Can I bring a car to camp?

  If you drive to camp, you have the option of driving your own vehicle to any off-site activities or attractions.

• How can I get to camp from the Airport

  For those who fly to Syracuse, the Sheraton Hotel will provide shuttle service to the Ernie Davis Residence Hall or the Hotel.

• What if I have to cancel?

  Registration fees are non-refundable unless a participant provides SVN Video Camp with written notice that he or she intends to withdraw.  • Written withdrawal notice must be received by SVN at least TEN business days prior to camp.  • Withdrawals or requests for a refund must be made in writing and may not be made by telephone.  • Please note that absence from Camp does not constitute notice of withdrawal.  • An administrative fee of $25 will be deducted from the refund amount.  • Payments by credit card will be processed only as a refund to the same card.

• Where will I stay at camp?

  Attendees will reside at the Ernie Davis Residence Hall unless you have made other arrangements.  These are two-person suites with two single beds and two work areas. Bathrooms are conveniently located a short distance down the hall.

Tuition and Payments FAQ

• Are Grants available for the camp?

  Some Grants can be awarded to pay for teacher training and continuing education. This is the time to check with your school or county Career Tech Ed Coordinator to find out what grants might be available for continuing education. Perkiin's Grant Applications are due in April, so it doesn't hurt to ask and there is no time to wait.

• When are deposits due?

  Deposits must be received within 30 days of your registration or else your registration will be cancelled and your spot forfeited at Camp.

• When is my camp tuition due?

  All payments are due in full 20 days before Camp begins.

• What if camp is cancelled?

  If the SVN Video Camp is cancelled, full refunds will be offered to all registered and paid participants.

• What is included in the tuition price?

  Camp tuition includes breakfast, breaks, lunch, camp materials and activities, transportation in the city to any camp functions, video segments used during presentations. A DVD of attendee work will be mailed after camp.

• When are final payments due?

  All payments are due in full 20 days before Camp begins. The first 30 to register per track and provide the deposit will have their spots reserved. Please note that registering online alone does not guarantee your spot. You must pay the deposit or the full amount to ensure your place in camp.

• What is the cost of the camp?

  $795 if registered and paid prior to June 1st, 2011. $895 if paid after June 1st, 2011 (Lodging and meals included).

• Is there an early-bird discount?

  There is a $100 early-bird discount if tutition is paid prior to June 1st, 2011.

Housing and Meals FAQ

• What meals are included?

  Camp tuition includes breakfast, coffee breaks, and lunch.  Dinners are on your own unless we have a speial event going such as the closing banquet Thursday night.

• Are there other housing options?

  The Sheraton Hotel - Syracuse has offered us a discounted room rate for those wishing to stay with them.  The Sheraton is located across the street from the Newhouse School where all classes will be held.

• If I want to spend more time in Syracuse can I keep my room?

  Those who want to stay additional nights either before or after Camp may keep their room at the Camp rate.
